The Price of Renewable Energy is Coming Down!
By aslanlight
TO MY GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT I FOUND THAT THE PRICES AREN'T LOWER - THE WEBSITE WASN'T ACCURATE BUT I'LL LEAVE THIS HERE BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT I'M WAITING FOR:
For several years I've been wanting to change my energy supply to 100% renewable energy but seeing as I'm currently unable to work due to sickness I haven't been able to afford it. The best that I've been able to manage is that last year I changed to a supplier that provided me with 15% green energy. At least it was a first step and was better than doing nothing to protect the environment and lower my carbon footprint, apart from my usual recycling and various other things.
Still, I've been really looking forward to the time that I'd be able to afford to go totally green with my energy use. My energy provider told me that I've been with them for a year so I thought it was time to check out the price comparison websites once again. To my surprise and great delight I found that British Gas (that supplies electric as well as gas) is offering 100% renewable electric so I signed up.
I'll only be paying an extra £3 per month and if I search for and find a cheaper internet provider I expect I can save on that, so I won't really be paying any extra. Regardless of that I feel that the benefits to myself and our environment are certainly worth it! British Gas will be putting a units worth of green energy into the national grid for every unit I use, they'll be putting my money into future sustainable energy, and they'll also be contributing some sustainable energy for schools.
I'm feeling so good about myself because I've finally been able to take this step, that I've been wanting to take for quite some time. All of the other green things I've been doing add up and help towards a sustainable world but I feel that changing to sustainable energy is the most important thing I've done yet. I can't wait to tell my friends and family about it because they might not be aware that renewable energy prices are dropping at long last!
If you're someone who appreciates green energy, and you probably are if you're reading this, I urge you to see if you can affordably change to it 100% now, and to tell people you know to check it out. We only have one planet and we surely don't want to be looked back on as the ancestors that didn't give a d**n about the future of the human race and other species!
You can make a difference!
Some people might think that they can't make a difference because they'll only be able to cut down on a tiny amount of the world's carbon emissions but the more of us that do it the more of a difference we'll make together. i've decided to be a part of the solution to climate change rather than part of the problem. I hope you'll consider this and do the same? I beg you on behalf our current and future generations, please?

100% renewable electric will mean a lot for our environment protection, and sounds a very interesting offer. I wish I had this program in my country.
Thanks Ryan, I watched a documentary saying that they could put technology on the moon that would power the entire planet. Why haven't they done it yet? Perhaps oil and coal is still too profitable to the greedy powerful people? Perhaps they won't stop using it until it runs out?
agusfanani f the price is coming down in the UK it may be in your country too. Why don't you check it out?
It's a shame because, coal won't run out. We simply have lots of it under our very feet at this very moment, 100 years worth according to an Ex-Miner friend of mine. However Maggie Thatcher closed the pits and stopped everyone from accessing it!
But there are numerous other technologies that are renewable and clean. For some strange reason though people just don't seem to want to fund them in the UK or USA. Very strange indeed.
It's so annoying and frustrating! :(
In fact, even in the early 1960's we had cars that could run on almost anything. There was the Chrysler Turbine, which was produced, but only for testing. It could run on nearly anything combustible, even tequila (Which was tested and worked), but it was 'too expensive to produce' which is a massive shame.
The only thing that'll change things is if the public shows it wants eco solutions and is willing to buy them, but we can't do that until they're available!
I don't really think that helps though. Unfortunately, with "eco solutions" the government just can't tax them. so they end up not really going anywhere, because after all, who'd pay the ridiculous prices for petrol if there was a cheaper, cleaner alternative that didn't have an extortionate setting up fee?
So we're screwed then? Lol
Unfortunately, yes, well that is unless they actually find a way to tax them; and a little 'fun-fact', we could extract millions of barrels of oil from land-fills by using a 'digester'. Again, un-taxable so probably won't be implemented, shame :\
renewable resources are good but we have only a little potential to work with them..
This is a very informative hub and I also enjoyed the discussion that followed. I have been trying to do what I can...small things, but I want to do something else and I'm hitting a wall. Thanks so much for putting this information out there for those of us needing a little assistance in what direction to go.
zan governments could be putting renewable energy into place for all of us but they're not doing it because they want to use all the oil up first in my opinion!
Dee I was wrong about the lower prices; the details in the website were incorrect, but I wish they'd hurry up and give us all the oportunity to live more cleanly.
Governments are causing us all to be guilty of pollution and harming our environment and they shouldn't place us in that position of guilt when there are alternative, 'clean' ways of living!
I total agree... we are being held hostage in every way one can thing off..
Very useful and informative hub, I couldn't agree more with you here. I know many people who would like to do more things to live more cleanly including myself. As of yet, it's just the costs that are preventing it. A very sad thing really. Thanks for sharing this here, and we can keep the hope alive together for a positive change in this.

100% renewable fuels are very important, we only have a few natural resources left. GM, a few years ago, released a concept car (That worked), which released NO pollution, and only used hydrogen. However it hasn't been put into production yet, which is a shame.
Another thing that would possibly help would be the use of magnetic force to propel trains. As we all know trains run on tracks and often use a lot of fuel, however if a magnetic propulsion system was introduced the fuel saved would be incredible. Although this may just be a pipe dream as of yet!
